Here are some helpful tips on how to Rock that Resume! 

Your resume is a snap-shot representation of your experience, skills and education. In today's job market, your resume is typically the initial introduction to a company/hiring representative. Do the time to make yourself shine! - Trust us, it is worth the effort.

Tips & Tricks:

1. Keep the format clean and simple - One Page should be the goal.

2. Make sure to cover the essentials: name, contact information, objective, skills, certifications/trainings/degrees, positions held (include employer, position, dates, and duties), and any additional volunteer or extra-curricular activities.

3. Keep it chronological - most recent to oldest

4. Save and send in a Word Format.

5. Title the document : First Name Last Name Resume  - don't just title the document Resume or Resume 3_2013, etc. Employers get millions of those and you don't yours to get lost in the shuffle!

6. Customize to the job - different jobs look for different things. Do the research and time to make sure your resume highlights your skills that match the employer and position requirements.

This can be done in three easy steps :
(1) Check out the company's website, read their mission statement, etc.,
(2) Read and reiterated the job description - if you've got what their looking, put it on the TOP of that resume!
(3) Update Resume - make sure to use the same terms/lingo and put those items before other skills. They give you the answers in the ad or job description so use them!

7. Use industry key terms and strong verbiage 
    (see image to right)

8.  Keep the font style and size legible - creativity is great but        not when it compromises efficiency.

9. Proof Read, Proof Read, Proof Read! - don't allow spelling       errors, formatting issues, or missing/incorrect information block       you from a job. Ask a friend, go to an employment service, etc.     to get another set of eyes proofing your resume.

10. Be honest - it's important to have your resume highlight you,        but do not exaggerate your skill level. Ever.
